Cheers for the info Andy....tried it and got this:

apt-get install cups
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
cups is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.


Hmmm.....I'm still doing something wrong.....it's a head scratcher (well 
for me anyhow).
