I've never done a programming course with him but I'd like to second the recommendation for John. He's a wonderful bloke who have done a lot for the community (including hiring a few Wolves LUG alumni) and I've never met anyone associated with his companies that isn't from the same mould. Which suggests he's a pretty good judge of character to boot.

Seriously if you want to learn python from scratch including basic programming concepts I can't think of a better way to do it.

For those who haven't met John imagine Ron but, errrrm, no just imagine Ron ;) Same sort of straight up bloke who is always ready to help us newcomers to computers (with less than 30 years experience who never had to code with a soldering iron in one hand) and who could have been multi-millionaires many times over if they hadn't spent so much of their time giving us all a hand up and helping us get the skills to pay our bills.

A round of applause for what would have been an extinct species if they hadn't shown us the way to act and inspired us to create user groups the world over. True Hackers.
