I tried setting to hostname to the IP address of the server, but this 

gives me "Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial 

communication packet', system error: 111"...

I apologise, I am not cleverer than a 10 year old - I has created the

user permissions on the database running on my netbook not on the

server I thought I had ssh'd to... :blush:<br>

It does indeed work as expected with 'localhost'.<br>
