All projectX does is split up the content of a transport stream into other
containers, but it doesn't convert.  I wouldn't guarantee that MP2s won't play
on your MP3 player.

Right, that looks like I'd expect.  Whether something like audacity can
convert that I don't know.  I've only done this under windows.

Hmm, not good indeed.  I've not found projectX to be flawless.

So I assume the m2v plays back, but that'll be without audio.  What's the
tv_prog.mp file?

That appears to be the case.  You need to convert it to a program stream for
most programs to cope with it.  This is what projectX tries to do, but in your
case it's failing.  I don't know of alternatives.
