<p>For laptops, I'd say have a look at <a href="http://pcspecialist.co.uk">pcspecialist.co.uk</a>. They sell a range by a company called Clemo/Sager which are configurable, decently priced and, as they're the same as those sold as Ubuntu laptops by System76.com, will work with most modern Linuxes.</p>
<p>If you'd prefer a name brand, try CCL in Bradford <a href="http://cclonline.com">cclonline.com</a>, they'll do most name laptops at a competitive price and their own pretty good range of desktops. It's getting a lot easier to get common machines to work with Linux.</p>
<p>For that matter, at the moment <a href="http://ebuyer.com">ebuyer.com</a> are doing the HP Microserver with £100 cash back until the end of the month so you get a useful machine for £130.</p>
