Hi,

If it has the 1GB of RAM then run memtest from the install CD overnight
(it has 8 tests which keep looping - I normally run them all twice). If
that comes out fine then it is probably not RAM so you can look at other
things.

Does a live CD successfully mount /dev, /proc and /sys? If so then it
must be something up in the kernel. I don't know if you could get a live
CD with the same kernel as the currently failing one but if so do that
and make sure it isn't some odd hardware compatibility bug with that
specific kernel.

The main error messages are obviously the Setuproot: lines - take a look
at the fstab and make sure the line for /proc is correct. In my fstab on
Ubuntu I don't have any lines for /dev or /sys - what tells the computer
where to mount them?

I hope this helps,

Harry
