There's information available on tuning specific areas for better performance 
in all sorts of places but I'm not aware of any single publication other than 
the book you've just purchased.

If you're talking about things like TCP socket options, performance tuning 
for Apache etc. that information can be readily found.

I've recently been looking into this area myself and can relate my experiences
of performance enhancement due to application of the low-latency and 
preemptive Linux kernel patches (albeit that my experience is with a Debian 
system). Also I've been looking into more efficient system loggers.
