I hear Andrews & Arnold (http://sod.ms/) are linux friendly (i.e. they know 
what it is and some of the staff know what they are talking about) but I've 
not used them myself.

Personally I use Demon Internet and NTL. Both work fine. For adsl buy an 
external router, it'll make your life easier.
