Hi Les,

I have been working on the web since I was 14, starting as a designer,
eventually I found the calling to start writing PHP and more recently
started applying my knowledge of Python to can LAMP and start working
with the Django framework. I have developed a hostility for design
work and now focus on web applications development.

I work for what my MD calls a 'media' company. They started off doing
plain old digital signage but they since took on a bunch of clients
that want more than that.

I am developing a standalone media player using Ubuntu as it's base.
The office I work in is phasing out support for its Windows XP stuff
and moving to Windows 7 linked with a Small Business Server, I have
Exiled myself from the network since I rely so much on free software
to get things done (Gnome, GTK, Python, Quickly etc). On top of that I
have started development of a content delivery network based on 2
Ubuntu servers... and I could go on and on, so that is why I feel I am
doing a lot of 'taking'.

I'd hope to make it down to one of your meetings soon.

Rick.
