Tony,
When you Generate the RSA Key it generates two files in the ~/.ssh directory
1) id_rsa - This is your private key. Dont show this to anyone
2) id_rsa.pub - This is your public key. You share this one
You need to open the id_rsa.pub file and put it's contents onto github.
