Last week I volunteered at the BBC Make it Digital, I had a great time - pretty much lost my voice.  I think the micro:bit is a great piece of kit for the classroom.  Highlight of my day was a nutter cornering me and telling me he was an out of work actor and would I like to read his TV screen play.  There were two Blackpool guys that I directed to look us up.  One was a Linux guy that was doing some interesting stuff archiving info on the net and the other said he was a robot maker. 
I have finished the hardware side for a simple one servo Kalman filter testing robot.  It's an inverted pendulum with the accelerometer/gyro at the top of the arm.  I have a second identical robot that just needs the electronics adding, the idea is I'll have one and I'll give the other to Martin and his son to play with.  Once the software is written for it I'll really get into trying to learn the maths.
I will be at Preston Makerspace meet tonight, I'm meeting the David Buckley robot guy for food there at 6pm. I'll have both Kalman robots with me and the idea is David will help me outline how the code should work using his approach to robot coding.  If that is of interest to anyone please join us.
