Hi All
One of the largest items of expenditure for this project is of course the camera. Looking arround a suitable SLR camera which can be triggered electronically is difficult to find at the price range we are looking at.
However, it has occurred to me that we have, within the tinkering community, a possible cheap alternative. The Raspberry Pi camera can be used for still work at around the minimum recomended resolution for photogammetry. This is light for mounting on our proposed rig and would, I think, be a good starting point for the project without spending all our money on one large purchase. The Pi would also, surely, be a suitable alternative to the Arduino as the brains of the unit (I defer opinion to the expertts in this field).
Please come to the next Makerspace meeting on Saturday 5 August to discuss this project and other suitable ideas for the Craft Council event at the end of October. There are a few ideas floating arround which we need to hone ready for putting in our application.
See you all on Saturday 5 August.
