[Bradford] File system on file system

Hiya

here is the scenario
 my NAS is fat32 so dot files and hard/soft links are a no go ...but lots of
space for backing up to

so I'd like to mount a filesystem e.g via loop that easy to do no Problems
there
but what id like is to allocate 1GB and the filesystem to automatically
expand as more data is placed on it
bit like  ecryptfs or a Hard Drive does on Virtualbox pre allocate x GB but
it only uses xx MB

any pointer for to me research would be fantastic
as I have no point to start from
