fao. Richard - this first paragraph:
I was astonished when I clicked on the link below named:
"Website blocking is back on the cards"
that it took me to a page with your name and address on it - did you intend this
to be an open link to your personal information?
............
Net Neutrality:
In a similar vein, namely Net Neutrality, I have lodged my objections via
avaaz.org and also 'signed' the Europe wide petition as I don't think this Tory
led Government are the least bit interested in Net Neutrality. Going via
'Europe' might be the only effective option.

I also wrote to the MP in Shipley, Philip Davies, about my concerns re the
badly crafted Digital Economy Bill* (*as it was then). He agreed with my
concerns but, as it was a Labour initiative I suppose he would.

Dear richard thomas
Website blocking is back on the cards
Government ministers are talking to Internet Service Providers about website
blocking. We are very worried: we think they are looking for a “plan B” if the
Digital Economy Act is derailed by this week’s court case. According to the
Guardian and others, ministers Ed Vaizey and Jeremy Hunt are still considering
web blocking as a serious option to tackle “illegal downloading” and copyright
infringement.
This week, Dr Richard Clayton, from our Advisory Council, attended a meeting
with Ofcom with our campaigner Peter Bradwell, to tell them that there is no
evidence that web blocking would work: and plenty that it would create
collatoral damage, when the wrong sites are blocked, and citizens or companies’
legitimate activities disrupted.
You can do your bit by letting your MPs know that this is not acceptable. Please
email them now to tell them to oppose web blocking.
