Hi,

The days are getting longer and warmer, and I've been thinking it'd be
good to have a mapping party soon. A few people have expressed
interest in mapping St Ives Estate near Bingley, so I'm emailing out
to see who's actually interested and when.

St Ives is a lovely woodland between Bingley and Harden, and has
plenty of paths and points of interest still to be added to Open
Street Map. There are also a number of geocaches in the area and a
really nice playground (probably only for children though). It makes
a nice day out and you don't need a GPS to do some useful mapping.
I've been twice recently to complete coverage of the Calder Aire Link.
http://osm.org/go/evjJto6x-- is the area I am talking about.

I've set up a Doodle to decide on a date
<http://www.doodle.com/n8kxrbn5acc4bzbu> but I'm likely to be out most
weekends over summer hiking/mapping somewhere around Bradford. I'm
keen on completing the Millenium Way after recently finishing the
Worth Way and Calder Aire Link.

Open Street Map is an open map of the world, now with very good
coverage in many areas. The data has an open license and is freely
editable by all, unlike commercial data owned by the Ordnance Survey
or other providers.

Geocaching is a real-world outdoor treasure hunting game. Players try
to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, using GPS-enabled
devices and then share their experiences online.
