The Gnome 3 live CD perhaps put me off more than it should then.
There were no obvious configuration tools on it to change anything
like this.  I could change the wallpaper, but that was about it (and
that wasn't the traditional right-click on the desktop like it
"should" be).

It's also much better than Ratpoison in my personal view, but that's
