Stare hard at the Industrial Revolution, and perhaps you'll see
self-organising teams (steelworkers forging wheels in Sheffield, for
example, before the Great War) and open source designs (Cornish steam
engineers before London lawyers patented their ideas and livelihoods
away, for example)...
