Dear All, Thanks for the plethora of replies and all the useful suggestions. The reason for the interest in XML is partly that I want to hack around with some of my Libreoffice files, and partly that in Publishing it is still important. I've tried a bit of Javascript and would be interested in the JSON stuff. I will be looking into Coursera as I have been trying Codecademy and got fed up with the dullness of the content, but probably need a bit of help getting started before plunging into a project. I've already discovered TheNewBoston and Full Circle, and will certainly revisit them. I think I had come down to Python or Ruby. There is a rather OCD part of my brain from my project manager days that likes the idea of Ruby on Rails helping you milestones to aim at. Alice, do you use Rails and if so what do you think?
