[Bradford] January 2014 meeting

Oh I can definitely join in the angry ranting. As a fun exercise, try
writing a bash script which tests the version of java installed on your
system - note the non-standard cli option to get the version information as
well as what it actually does with that text.

Anyway, you asked for content:

Glenn Greenwald gave a talk recently about how he very nearly gave up on
the Snowden story because he couldn't cope with using encryption tools.
This is a completely unacceptable state of affairs, and so I would
encourage you to all bring along laptops and we'll ensure that you are all
capable of using TrueCrypt for disk encryption and/or Tor for anonymous
internet usage (depending on time/interest).

I can also talk a bit about connecting to the core of the internet,
including a look at some tools to see how organisations are actually doing
it.

Regards
Alice
