[Bradford] Linux Mint screen resolution

Hi all

I've got myself a Toshiba notepad on which I have put Linux Mint.
However, after it has gone through the login screen, the screen
resolution drops from its normal resolution to 800X600 and I haven't
been able to do anything about it.

I followed an old post about adding xorg.conf but that did not make any
difference and then I found that mdm.conf is virtually empty. Apart from
defaults.conf I haven't been able to find any documentation for mdm. 

Also I haven't been able to find anything on the web about people having
similar problems.

So if anyone has had any experience of editing mdm.conf, their wisdom
will be gratefully received.
