There are no proper interwebs at her house and I'll have to sit
through Emmerdale. So yes, pretty bad :-/

If the subject of the Intel SMM mode vulnerability crops up you might
want to mention that it's been known about forever, Google turns up
loads of references (Phrack in 2008) and it was already suggested that
the NSA BIOS implants used it. It can't be exploited from user mode so
generally can't spread like a virus.  And it might be a whole new way
of busting UEFI secure boot :D :D :D
