[Bradford] Reinstalling GRUB?!

TLDR:
I need some (paid) help to get a Linux (CentOS?) box running which says
"Error loading operating system" after BIOS. I have little to no
knowledge of Linux and SCSI/RAID.

Hi,

Apologies if I'm not meant to post this sort of request so please do
tell me if not!

I've been passed a PC from one of my clients - it's their MySQL database
server for their office and is critical to their company. As such, I'm
asking on their behalf for some paid work - that's what I'm not sure
about, if I can 'tout for quotes' here.

If it wasn't so urgent then I would take my time to learn a lot more and
spend a decent time doing a proper job - however, my skill set doesn't
cover Linux or SCSI / RAID set ups and they haven't got time to wait.

The History: items weren't being saved to the database so they rebooted
the machine. After the BIOS it simply said "Error loading operating system".

The Set-Up:
CentOS running a MySQL Server (they don't know any of the version
details but it looks really old...!)
2 x 36GB SCSI HDD assumed to be running in a RAID array - my guess is
mirrored as the BIOS shows 1 capacity of 36422MB
Adaptec SCSI Card 39160

Doing a lot of Google searching hasn't really helped much and I also
lack any SCSI hardware to be able to check the drives myself. If it was
Windows then I'd be looking at fixing the MBR - which I believe I can do
using a Linux Live CD. I've tried 'boot-repair-disc'
(https://sourceforge.net/p/boot-repair-cd/home/Home/) with no luck - it
takes an age to load, eventually gets to a GUI which flashes
sporadically and then crashes.

I will also admit not really knowing about RAID and as to whether
individual discs can be accessed/used/checked without being in the RAID
array etc etc.

Also, as I don't know what version of CentOS (or if it even IS CentOS) I
didn't know if I could run repair stuff or reinstall GRUB(?) via an
Ubuntu Live disc or other Linux distro.

They don't have backups of this data (their reason being that it's old
and on Linux so they don't know how etc etc) which makes me even more
reluctant to 'fiddle'.

So, is there someone who has knowledge of Linux and SCSI/RAID drives
that could either give some advice and/or take on this job? I'm in
Bingley myself and the client lives in Bingley but the office is in
Bradford. I'd normally turn down a job like this but they guy's a friend
of mine and he doesn't know where else to look!

Thanks in advance

MaFt (Matthew)
