Got seriously fed up waiting for replies from about a half dozen forums over help with this one, so I decided that maybe the problem with the eeePC and Hardy would be easier to fix. Now eeePC has XP on the 2g ssd and Hardy on the 4g Class 6 SDHC. Does anyone know a quick way to remove all the crap that gets bundled with Ubuntu that I don't need. Some suff can't be removed with Add-remove progs and I'm reluctant to do it with the package manager in case something I need gets removed by accident. I'm looking to keep full functionality, but remove additional extras like ooo database and display software while keeping the spreadsheet and word processor. > From: r.downing at dl.ac.uk > To: chester at mailman.lug.org.uk > Subject: Re: [Chester LUG] eeepc woes again > Date: Thu, 17 Jul 2008 14:59:43 +0100 > > On Thursday 17 July 2008 13:15:31 Paul Williams wrote: > > Hi Guys, got feisty installed to the SD card of my eeepc (and XP on the > > ssd). > > > > Only issue is that I have no ethernet or wifi, so I can't tweek it much. > > > > any help? > > > > I want to fix the problem without installing another distro - had enough > > trouble getting one on in the first place. > > > Hmm interesting that ethernet doesn't work. Many of the other popular venues (such as Fab Cafe, Rain Bar, The Britons Protection, the Water House) are pubs/bars which some people may feel uncomfortable or have problems being in, though the Corner House may be an option which is not likely to cause problems.
