From lists at tdobson.net Fri Jan 8 23:28:47 2010 From: lists at tdobson.net (Tim Dobson) Date: Fri, 08 Jan 2010 23:28:47 -0000 Subject: [Chester LUG] Open Rights Group : Digital Economy Bill - Manchester, 23rd Jan Message-ID: <4B47BFA4.2090005@tdobson.net> I've just found out that The Open Rights Group are running an event on the 23rd of January at Madlab in Manchester to help the campaign against the Digital Economy Bill. -- The Open Rights Group wants to help you get your voice heard: by helping you to talk to your MP. Booking an appointment with your MP and saying what you think is easier than you might think. At this event you will: * Gain the confidence to talk and write to your MP * Rehearse talking to your MP one on one * Find out what MPs will ask you * Learn how to write to your MP and get a response * Meet other people campaigning against disconnection without trial in the Digital Economy Bill Talking to your MP is the most effective way to make sure Parliament knows how unpopular and bad disconnection without trial really would be. In these short sessions, you can try out talking to your MP or watch someone else having a go, and learn how to get your points across in a way that an MP will understand. To book, please use these form: http://www.openrightsgroup.org/blog/2010/how-to-talk-to-your-mp-training-days --- See you there! Tim P.S. Obviously, if you support the Digital Economy Bill and want families to be cut off without trial, you needn't attend. No bad feelings! :) From dh at iucr.org Tue Jan 12 17:53:13 2010 From: dh at iucr.org (David Holden) Date: Tue, 12 Jan 2010 17:53:13 -0000 Subject: [Chester LUG] Unbreakable phone. The handset costs £500 new from Nokia or you can get it on a £35 a month contract from Vodafone. I actually have this one on extended loan from Nokia. They sent it to me for review before Christmas. They sent them to a loads of Linux bloggers and developers in a marketing campaign. They want it back though at some point sadly. In the meantime I'm having great fun. You can find more about it here - http://maemo.nokia.com/ Cheers, Dan On Fri, Jan 29, 2010 at 6:51 PM, Michael Crilly wrote: > Vodafone don't sell locked handsets anymore, unless the handset is locked > because of a legal contract with the manufacturer and or because of some > exclusive deal. > > That sounds amazing though, Dan!
