I have a Desire and I'm on O2 but I rooted it long ago and install custom ROMs quite often. It's still SIM locked to O2 and cracking that looked too much hassle for me but it's possible. If you do that it gets OTA updates for HTC. I've been running CyanogenMod 7 for a month or two and I like it a lot. That's Android 2.3 with some added tweaks. I'd recommend it if your phone is rooted. Dan On Jun 17, 2011 12:39 PM, "Thomas Prophett" wrote: -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... HTC announced recently they wouldn't be putting 2.3 on the Desire because the hardware wasn't up to it. Loads of people kicked off and they immediately did a u-turn faster than politician. It's always run fine for me so I don't know what they were complaining about. They must have had the update ready to go anyway, so maybe it was all a PR stunt to get attention. Sorry for the intrusion - this is slightly off-topic, but Richard Smedley suggested I post here so here goes! https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/nw-hack-space/VSvVLGdjzyI After being a founding member of BuildBrighton for nearly three years, I'll be returning to Llangollen at the end of summer. I've got my eye on a few commercial properties in the town and am looking into getting a maker group up and running. Is there much interest in this neck of the woods? I've got a CNC router and hope to have a laser cutter when I get up there and the usual electronics/robotics toolkits. I work mainly with PICs but have experience of Arduino and other platforms (mBed, arm7). I like messing about with gadgets, robotics and electronic instruments but would like to open up to anyone who makes stuff. Anyone interested in a bi-monthly meet-up from September onwards? Specifically we are looking for a senior developer with plenty of experience who can lead a team of 5/6 other developers and provide coaching and mentoring as well as hands-on development. The second role is for a less senior developer who loves Rails to join our development team to work on a small number of internal and external projects including an extensive SaaS application. Both candidates should have plenty of experience developing with Rails, B/TDD, Cucumber, RSpec, etc. and should have fallen hopelessly in love with Ruby as soon as they first started using it. Additionally, we're looking for a PHP developer as well, if the good folks on this list know of anyone who's looking around right now please do forward my details over. We're not looking for contractors at this time, we need to expand our internal development team significantly to deal with the growth trajectory we are on. For more information please get in touch with me or fire over a CV and we'll arrange to have a chat.
