If you have a passion for Linux, then pop over to http://www.ukfast.co.uk/linux-jobs.html - please note that the RHCE requirement isn't set in stone. If you're good with a CLI and have good communication skills, apply! :-) Good luck, and feel free to ask any questions at all. They're calling it a survey but there's only one question so let's not split hairs. What better way to decide this than with a proprietary Flash-based polling system right? http://ratholeradio.polldaddy.com/s/rms-live-in-liverpool I'm sending this to local LUG mailing lists but if you know of other places it should be posted please do. I'll take a look at responses next week. Please only indicate that you'd like to come if there's a realistic chance you can and will. I know this isn't a fine science but it'll really help us out. Chris is hoping to create something similar here. A hackspace is basically just a gathering place/workshop for people that like making things, usually electronic/computer/robotic/automation things, but they don't have to be. It's also a good place to share knowledge and skills and team up with people to work on projects together. Hopefully it will inspire me to get my 'HeLoMo' (heat loss monitor) project back on the road. So far he's set up the the website found some space to get things started and set a date and time for the first meeting - Thursday October 6th, 7pm at the Malthouse, Llangollen. Chris has already planned an introductory session on microcontrollers (see website) for the following week. If HackLlan can gather enough members we can rent a decent sized workshop space (at the moment Chris has only a tiny storage area and access to the public area of the Malthouse). Chris is contributing a lot of his own equipment (including a laser cutter) and if we can find space I have a Boxford lathe for anyone that needs wheels, drive shafts, bearings etc for their project. I know several of you work in engineering/tech industries and/or have a history of building stuff, so please come along, we need your input. Don't feel it's only an experts club though, with a bit of enthusiasm and help from other members 'hardware hacking' is open to all. Please forward this mail to anyone you know in the area who might be interested. -- regards Phil Thane Bryn Villa Penycoed Road Llangollen LL20 8LR Tel: +44 (0) 1978 861677 Mob: +44 (7) 582 506607 Skype: philthane phil at pthane.co.uk www.pthane.co.uk _______________________________________________ NorthWales mailing list NorthWales at mailman.lug.org.uk https://mailman.lug.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/northwales From rcgibson at talktalk.net Tue Sep 27 15:22:00 2011 From: rcgibson at talktalk.net (Roger Gibson) Date: Tue, 27 Sep 2011 15:22:00 -0000 Subject: [Chester LUG] Free stuff!
