As you know, we tested out the Rake and Pikel last month as a potential new venue. We only had a small turnout, but I think we were all happy with the location. The staff were friendly and happy to have us there. So I think it could be a good venue to use for our social meets, whilst we use somewhere else for any technical talks that are volunteered. On that topic, if anyone would like to talk about a particular topic (or hear a talk on something) please let us know and we can get planning something. During last month's meet Stuart suggested the idea of a LUG day trip somewhere after our OggCamp days went well. He has a good idea for the first trip, so I'll let him email you about that shortly. Thanks for volunteering to organise this Stuart. Les -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... The Mersey tunnel tours look quite interesting and quite inexpensive, as well as being local for everyone. The tours include all sorts of usually unseen things including the control room and behind the scenes infrastructure. If you would like more info on it all, it can be found here: http://www.merseytunnels.co.uk/nossl/html/tunnel_tour.php The duration of the tour is between 2 to 3 hours. It is also quite cold so wrap up warm if you fancy coming. As for dates I would suggest Saturday 24th because that way it will be fresh in our minds for our social the following week! So therefore, in summary: 24th @ 10 am for 2 - 3 hours, followed maybe by lunch if everyone is up for it. We can get the train from Chester to James street (inbound platform is closed, but you can whip around the loop and get off as it heads back towards Chester Costs are: £6.70 for the train to and from Chester £5.00 for the tour. Lunch money, or beer money if we are doing a few beers afterwards. *I DO NEED NUMBERS AS I WILL NEED TO BOOK AHEAD* Therefore, please let me know by close of play Friday. Sadly for me the SSD in my Mac is SATA3 but the bus is SATA2, so I don't benefit as much as I could from the speed, but in a laptop it's super quiet and vibration free, not to mention lighter. - MTC On 30 Nov 2012, at 14:53, Stuart Burns wrote: > Hi Mike. Loved the all-pad demo and the chance to get a bit excited about my Christmas pi in company that understand ;) 128gb kills me for my main device no room for my raw video stash waiting for that "free time" to edit (that never happens), can't keep all my lifes photos in one place, keep getting tempted to even ditch the music and go spotify so that I can fit some VMs on. I've moved to having network storage for stuff like kits, DVD iso images etc but there is nothing quite like having stuff with you to copy, share, use. So for now its 128gb within and a silly 500gb thing hanging off the end ;) not great !
