Hey thanks, that looks just right! I especially like this bit in the man page:

"Like the original fdisk program, gdisk does not modify disk structures until you explicitly write them to disk, so if you make a mistake, you can exit from the program with the ’q’ option to leave your partitions unmodified."

I never got the thinking behind parted's 'sudden death' formatting style.
