Seriously, I think we should in the first instance limit to Gnome and 
KDE as the main heavyweight contendors and one other for use on 
lightweight hardware. That's why I suggested (elsewhere) icewm. This is 
quite small and hence fast, but is not too minimalistic as to be 
practically useless. I use icewm as the default WM on my P266 laptop.
