I hope your all sitting down....

Not only is this the first post in about 5 months for me but I've actually
got around to booting my laptop into Linux and attempting to install
software. The wonders of actually meeting like minded people!

So what's the best way of getting programs to work then - the first
project is to get a video player on here, I've heard of one called xine?
Recommendations on a postcard please.

Schwuk - you mentioned something like "Yum"?
