I use SuSE 10.2 on a Dell XPS Gen-2 laptop. Everything works OK - you have to 
use a paid-for driver for the modem (about £10) and X works best with the 
nvidia binary driver (I have compiz running for 3D window manager 
beautification). Even the internal SD card reader started magically working 
after a recent kernel update.

I use it every day and have no problems whatsoever.
