[cumbria_lug] Perl or Python: a challenge

I work mainly in Perl and have done for a good many years now.  I like Perl 
despite - or perhaps because of - its quick-and-dirtiness and it's total lack 
of elegance (so it's a bit like me, really.)

I have worked in C in the past - mainly in the 1980s when I was much exercised 
by writing real-time interfaces between MVS and PC-DOS.  However, I believe 
that life is much to short to write much in C.

Your challenge for today is this.  Give me a good reason why I should learn 
Python, and a virtual Pan-galactic Gargleblaster for any smooth talker who 
persuades me!
