Wow - thanks for all the help. I think I'll try XP in a Virtual Box, if I
decide there's anything that only Windows apps can do. With regard to
dropbox, I've looked at a few of the online backup services but they don't
seem to provide the storage I require, or at least not with a reasonable
price. I'd like 250GB as a minimum. Not bothered about bells and whistles,
so any box that I can ftp to would do.

Will also checkout Samba for the XBox stuff.
