For now its Mandake, but I am currently testing a few different distros,
just in case Mandrake does go belly up. I'm forced to use Windows for while
(have to use After Effects), so I have an opportunity to fiddle with
various Linux distros, so far I have tried:

RedHat 8 works very well, but looks like it was made by Fisher Price.
Debian, I like a lot, but may take a while to get in to.
SuSE my all time favourite Linux distro. But it has strange quirks, eg the
extra run level. Plus they send us free boxed sets. (Available to all Derry
LUG users if you want them, plus stacks of Mdk 8.2 disks)
SCO-Caldera Linux, way way too Corporate and a crap installer.
Slackware, a bit like Debian, good but needs time to get in to.

Curently I am erring between SuSE and Debain, should Mandrake go tits-up.com.

I like Mandrake as its got a good installer and its the only distro that I
have got my ADSL USB modem working under. I have to try other to see if
they have improved since the last time I tried them as regards getting it
going. Down sides to Mandrake? They sent us mousemats... ..but without the
rubber bit, just the hard plastic top bit. yeah, thats useful(!)
