Cable select is still in use, all my drives are set using it, on 2 Pcs

It is mainly dependant upon the BIOS as to weather it is supported or
not, if cable select is set on both drives on the same cable the bios
then selects the best drive to use first within the pair.
As a rule its best to slave the DVD from the first hard drive on the
first IDE channel and put any other drives ie Zip, CD-RW on the second
channel. Mainly as the DVD and most hard drives now support ATA66 and
the Zip etc are only ATA33.
