[dundee] Advice re "powerpoint" digital projectors

I've been asked to do a presentation in a week or so.  The projector
(connects to a laptop and displays a powerpoint show) will be supplied
by I'm using my own laptop.   This has, in the past, been used fine for
this purpose.  However that was in the days when it had a windows
partition.

Now when I need windows I run win4lin so have an entirely Mandrake
system.  The slides are in OO.org format so that's no problem.

My impression is that a projector is a purely hardware device which
needs no driver support on the PC end.  In other words it should be just
as happy getting a VGA feed from a linux box as a Win machine.  

Is that right?  I would hate to find otherwise on the day!
