The main problem, is getting it onto a machine with only one hard drive
where w2k has the whole disk and is using ntfs.
You need to run something which puts all the data on the disk from the
beginning onwards so that you have a contiguous amount of free space.
I'm pretty sure windows comes with such a device...
Then you need to shrink the nfts partition. Certainly partition magic
can do this (commercial product). Possibly parted can do this (open
source). Maybe todays latest distros can do the ntfs partition resizing
for you at install time. But you'd still need to do the data
reorganisation first.
