                  Xandros desktop v1.0 uses KDE2 with extensions by xandros
as the gui (the file manager is superb by the way!). There is a wizard for
setting up your dialup i cant remember where it is but it should be around
the menu's with all the other config stuff, if you still cant find it -
the easiest approach for you would be to run the "first time run" wizard
again which im fairly sure goes through setting up an internet connection).

                 If you still have your onboard graphics enabled you should
disable it in your BIOS and set the motherboard to enable vga from your
agp slot intitially (im assuming that your video card is agp and not pci),
and then X will work under vesa, but if you run xandros networks you can
download the nvidia drivers and xandros will install for you.

                Its a great distro for easing people away from windows,
and just remember that at the end of the day its based on Debian, which
cant be bad!
