[dundee] PHP includes problem

hey, hopefully someone can shed light on this. I'm trying to include and
instance a class. The files are in the same directory and the names are all
correct. The error logs on the server just read:

Thu Aug 23 08:56:09 2007] [error] [client 88.109.148.10] PHP Fatal error:
require_once() [<a href='function.require'>function.require</a>]: Failed
opening required '1' (include_path='.:') in
/var/www/vhosts/hdmotherlode.com/httpdocs/dbtest.php on line 2

Why is this messing up? Do I need to adjust something in the php.ini? Hope
it's something daft I'm doing and someone can tell me how to fix it.
