Oh No Jacek with a login problem run for the snowy hill's (okay we've
not had a white christmas for awhile but what the hay).

Well this could as usual be a number of things, firstly i would set up a
dummy test account to see if you can login, if you can then maybe it's a
permission issue.  

Load a root terminal and type the below command to add a test users

sudo adduser test

there is a command you can use to sort out your home folder permissions
and i do this every now and then.  if you can login then press alt+ctrl
and F2 at the same time and you'll get a terminal.  Login, and then type

sudo chown -hR jacek /home/jacek/

obviously i'm assuming that your user name is jacek change it to
whatever it is.

Not too sure if this will help, but it'll give you somewhere to start i
suppose.
