Yip - the domain name is just a label - you can point the label
wherever you like - blueyonder (virginmedia!) webspace, space on a
hosting package, space on a co-lo server, whatever. Things that are a
little more tricky with DNS pointing to some ISP hosted webspace are
playing around with mail, or hosting and ftp server, etc. ISP webspace
tends to give you just that - webspace. Hosting packages usually come
with some level of mail - POP3 boxes, perhaps IMAP, some access to
mailing list software in some cases - and with a co-lo box you can
host whatever you want. You could just get your DNS/hostname to point
to your home box if your IP doesn't change very often (like dyndns.org
or the like) - but ISPs are often a bit picky about this, and the
level of traffic you can service is low.
Cheers
Colin
