Thanks for the info - more testing to follow

However, just to spice things up, finally got Fedora 6 back on to the 
server - replacing PClinuxOS, and my transfer speeds are between 9 and 
11 %, between the same two PC's.

I'm gonna have to set one of those VM thingy's to allow for further 
comparison.

The ram disk idea looks good-with any luck I may have some testing done 
for thursday.
