[dundee] GNOME & gDesklets

At the risk of starting the Gnome Vs KDE debate...
I've been fiddling around with my laptop, getting all the features
supported finally under linux. So far, the only thing I'm missing is the
Media Button, which originally opened the "Dell Media Experience" under
windoze.
Ok, I have set all media files to open with Exaile and nothing else
(removed all other apps from mimeinfo.cache) and I've set the button in
the gnome keyboard-shortcut editor to "Media Button" I've tried
switching it around with buttons I know work and I can verify that the
button does send a signal and is in working order. Supposedly the media
button, by default, should open rhythmbox. Nothing. Googling only found
me Ubuntu forums, the most useful post saying to change something in
gnome configuration editor. I looked and I don't have a "media" section
where it claims I should. I'm currently running GNOME 2.20.0. Anyone got
any suggestions?

On another topic, I also thought gDesklets might be useful, in
particular if I could find an IRC one. To start off with, they run VERY
slowly. If I try to move them I can forget about doing anything else
while they reload 20 times before they get to the new location and then
I click frantically for 30 seconds in the hope I catch it at the right
time to get it to lock down again. Also all the ones I've tried so far
throw up errors when I load them, although they seem to work fine after
that. The errors seem to be claiming that some variables aren't
declared. Anyway, I found an IRC one... but I could only find BSD ports.
I thought I may as well try it so I went and installed it (1.2_5) and I
got an error that sensor 'irc' was not found. I checked and the package
included the sensor folder, I don't know the layout of gdesklets but
there were a lot of files there :) Googling the error again led me to
Ubuntu forums. No solution as of yet.

Thanks for reading this much :P
