[dundee] Gutsy Gibbon Upgrade

i should really knuckle down for a wee while n get my system so well kitted
out that i confidently cut the cord and get rid of windows all together.  it
makes me stupid.  i'm sure of it.  you just dont think of these things when
you're kept in the box.  thnx for reminding me to get out of it.  :D

What a brilliant HowTo (assuming it works).  It actually explains what's
going on with each command! (teaching a man to grow a seed rather than eat a
seed so he can live for years rather than come back to you asking for
another seed)
  thats the right direction documentation should be heading.  i love seeing
well done educating/informing.  pedagogy.  mmm.

... i've just been reorganising my drive full of distros again, installed
mandriva rc2... n it really bugs me the lack of ability to set up the
menu.lst from within the gui installer.  it was pretty cool to see in their
graphic shpeal a nice migration feature, a wizard for sharing or transfering
your  settings, documents n stuff from windows.  can i assume that there's
some easy way for doing this between linux distributions too?  like, could i
just copy a file or type a comand to have such n such settings from suse
copy over onto mandriva or whatever?  oh i see difficulties with this
surely.

(sorry if that seems like it's going off topic, but it could be useful info
still going back to David's original post about transferring his ubuntu or
installing a fresh partition)

... what am i saying... i live for off topic!  .. ok, now i'm rambling...
