Just thought I'd introduce myself - and I'd like to attend the meeting on the 
24th, if that's OK (and perhaps the 19th). 

I'm just along the road from Ian Porter, in Newtyle. I run a small business 
producing amongst other things, modified IPCOP distributions for use around 
the world, usually on satellite-based backhauls.

In the dim and distant, I ran a small ISP in the Outer Hebrides (it was 
wireless-based and covered a number of the islands). We used Mandrake at the 
time, but now I tend to be an OpenSuse chap.
