Well Sun are moving about, not sure they'll get canonical, i could be
wrong (and in the case i would like to point to the old adage of i may
not always be right, but i'm never wrong and hope that gets my arse out
of sing, sing) but i just don't see shuttleworth selling up for anyone.
I fall back to most other new distributions would have bitten M$ hand
off for a strategic partnership, but not in shuttleworth's case. I also
don't see Ubuntu falling in line of Sun's business model or overall
goals, however they may want the team's involved and a high profile
independent distro. Which would make Ubuntu probably top of the wish
list, however i feel this is more to do with Oracle than anything else.
As far as i know Sun and Canonical/Ubuntu have a very good working
relationship and share some common development goals, which i suppose
could lend it's self to Gordon's view on this. I hazard they they may
go for something web app'ed based, or i go with this more that this is
the last major acquisition this year and their going to focus on making
these purchases make some monies back. Like to hear other peoples few
on what they think Sun's next move is.
I suppose also, and this is more pointed at Gordon but all jump in. If
RH where suppose to buy MySQL, and missed it. They've seen Innovtek
just get snapped up out of the Blue, and i think it's a well documented
concept the RH are going to expand via acquisition what are they going
to do next? Who if anyone do you see as RH buying to grow new business
revenues?
