I've never played with Groupware server but I heard its on the better
Exchange likes ones. I've done Linux Domain Controllers a few times,
there are lots of ways to do them depending on what you want:

Whats the purpose of the controller? Why do you need it for?
What type of clients will connect?
What other servers will it interact with?

Anyway most ways involve Samba and OpenLDAP, though Yellow pages is
sometimes used.
