Hi All,
This week the theme is SOLARIS as Sun has released OpenSolaris under
the CDDL (Common Development and Distribution License). Whilst some
commentators are trying to compare OpenSolaris and Linux Sun's Rich
Green said that Solaris-Linux code sharing would be inevitable. Will
we get Dtrace and the ZFS file system in Linux? The problem of this
could be that the two systems are under a different license structure
which brings me to another subject – Licenses. I am just an ordinary
Linux user, I am not a lawyer, with all the different types of
software licenses now springing up it is getting more confusing by the
day. Is it all turning into a legal minefield?
