Hi Guys

I'm sending you this email as you asked for more information about
Linux Society at this years Abertay Freshers Fair.

Well I'd like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Linux Society
to welcome new and returning students back to Abertay.

The Linux Society is a very active Linux Community in Dundee, and it's
open to everyone regardless of being a student or not, so if you do
know anyone that is interested in Linux then feel free to point them
in our direction.  We're NOT an specialist only society, and we have a
broad cross section of users with varying degree of experience. If
you haven't used Linux before or nervous because you haven't used it
long, then please don't worry, that's why we're there.

The next meeting is on 9th of October 2008 @ 7pm

Rick Moynihan - Freedom and Control

First previewed at Software Freedom Day, this talk was one of the
popular talks of the event, and a second chance to watch it can't be
missed.

Rick's talks centers on the duality between freedom and control. With
a look at how vendors seek maximize control over the publics own
equipment, how this can be used by corporations pushing their own
agenda, and how that can spill into the Movie and Music industries,
sometimes in the form of dubious deals. His talk will touch on aspects
of DRM, Copyright, Copyleft, creative commons, and how Free software
is more than just software.
