u could try using aptitude search function.

sudo aptitude search <file>

eg.

sudo aptitude search uclibc

p   libuclibc-dev                                  - A small implementation
of the C library
p   libuclibc0                                      - A small implementation
of the C library


if you are compiling from source you need to install the -dev version of
packages.
